Mac app store publishing

Hey Ansca !

Just wondering when mac app store publishing is planned?

It opens so many doors and i have a lot of projects planned for it.

Thank you

Its out now (if you didnt know that now that's it out). Good luck on your projects.

I know the mac app store is out now, i was refering to the ability to build our apps for it.

Thanks

I don't think thats even on the Roadmap. Might be wrong of course.

I know Corona is meant to be mobile, and some Corona programmers would disagree with me, but I for one would LOVE to see a future version of Corona with the ability to deliver games on Macs -- and for that matter, on Windows machines.

Sorry for double post. Attention Ansca employees: Stop downloading naughty pictures. You're slowing down the servers! ;)

I would also love to target the Mac. That would be a great new feature for an already great product.

Don't think I care about Doz (I guess I should) , but I'm sure others would like that.

o.O !!!

Carlos ... is that (gasp) ... a hint?

;-)

LOL

Considering our apps already run on the Mac Desktop through the simulator and run very well. Taking this a step further to create standalone executables can't be that difficult? I hope? =)

That made my day!

SPAMMER ALERT!!! Above post...

removed spam !

thanks

Seeing on the main page of the forum, a Carlos's answer about "Mac app store publishing", I was happy to click on detail to discover the launch date... ! but nothing..., just a spam removed... :)
Be positive: well done Carlos!:)

Add one more to this request. Windows and Mac apps would be great.

+1 for mac.

+1 for TRS-80 Model III.

Everything in Lua and Corona. How easy life would be...

Hi,
If you remove the simulator window, wouldn't that qualify as a Mac or Windows native build in many ways?

Team Ansca are already there it is about just creating a native build that would run the app as a Windows Desktop version or a Mac Desktop version rather than as a mobile simulator.

when do you think this could be done?

?:)

cheers,

There are some limitations of the Simulator that they'd have to address before simply removing the surrounding mockup image, including but not limited to

  • native.newTextField()
  • multiple native.showAlert calls
  • Facebook and OpenFeint
  • In-App Purchases
  • media.playVideo
  • media.showCamera
  • etc.

All in all, it's pretty close FWIW.

@BeyondTheTech, some things are not applicable to native apps like In-App purchase. Alert Ui's are easier natively on a Mac or windows. The changed should be minimal and it should work.

However it is up to Carlos to see this as a potential to get this on the priority anvil.

It is on our roadmap. We are aware and we know what features to implement/remove, etc.

It is a matter of priorities/time/feedback.

And don't forget about webOS - Sorry Carlos, your roadmap must be very big !

You guys are doing a great job. What an awesome product.

P

what is webOS?

LOL, Carlos, what are miter joints?

But seriously, about the app store, it would be a huge reason for me personally to keep on writing apps in Corona. My belief, and I could be wrong, is that the app store concept is just as big a revolution as the iPhone & iPad are. I'm not saying that the Mac App Store will be a panacea for all developers, but it gives us another market in which to sell our games.

Also, on a somewhat similar topic, how about an option to bundle one's app and the Corona simulator into a Mac/Windows executable? This would be great for beta testers, for example, or for the next 48-hour challenge, so we could let everyone play our games without exposing our source code. All the current limitations of the simulator would still apply.

Dreamer huh? Ha!!!

Well, whatever you guys decide to do, I'm sure I'll be right there with ya. You've done a great job so far, and I have every reason to believe that will continue.

Ah, good tunes Carlos, hehehe. Well, I know you know what webOS is, but here is a nice intro and a look at the new veer for those that don't.

What can I say, I am a tech geek. What a beautiful, elegant piece of work that webOS is. And REAL multi-tasking to boot. Sure looks a lot beter than that Seattle BLOATWARE!

I must admit my bias, I used to do Palm programming in C and pascal about 10 years ago. Good old Palm III and Palm IIIc, oh yeah.

It actually looks like this would be easy to support for the Titanium folks. Same software architecture. And maybe the Game Closure guys too (just found them - nice to see the Paul Graham connection (I am a fan)).

Cheers,

Peter

Fantastic news, thanks Carlos!

I'd rather have it sooner than later, but just knowing it's on the list makes it that much easier to concentrate on Corona.

Thanks again.

+1 for me as well.

Seems like a great idea and is probably lower hanging fruit than implementing completely different os' like webOS.

Carlos are you still considering it?
