Must sadly say it closes on launch =/

Motorola Atrix android 2.2

Hi, I tested the trial but I encountered some bugs.

1. It feels a bit buggy when tapping the platforms, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't (the correct way is to hold to rotate right?, sometimes it didn't seem like it was registering the tap).

2. It crashes when I click on the levels menu button when clearing the first level. It didn't seem to do that on level 2 though, might want to look into that.

3. One time a bird flew out of the screen too, did not know how that happened.

4. I don't know if you already know this but the credits button doesn't actually take you to a credits screen, but a new start menu that starts repeating the same music that is already playing. :P

I think it has potential but it could use an update to fix the bugs a bit.

(I have a HTC Desire HD)

Thanks slimboyfat. I'm not sure what's causing this. I have a HTD HD2 and ifredrik tested with Desire. Is there a way I can capture error messages on devices?

Ifredrik, can't see how appreciative I am of your feedback!

1. It feels a bit buggy when tapping the platforms, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't (the correct way is to hold to rotate right?, sometimes it didn't seem like it was registering the tap).
This is caused by the branch being too slim. I think I have to make a fatter branch. I'll do in the next update.

2. It crashes when I click on the levels menu button when clearing the first level. It didn't seem to do that on level 2 though, might want to look into that.
I can't manage to replicate this on my HTC HD2 (with desire stock ROM). What I tried to do is from main menu, go to Play->Levels->1. Then played till i completed the level and then go back to Levels from the menu that appears. Did you try a different path?

4. I don't know if you already know this but the credits button doesn't actually take you to a credits screen, but a new start menu that starts repeating the same music that is already playing. :P
Yes. It is an actual credit screen but the Menu button seems to confuse people that it's another Menu screen. I'll change it to make it more obvious it's a credit screen. The repeat music is a bug that I've squashed.

Again thanks heaps guys for the feedback. I'm worried about the crash on launch by slimboyfat.

I'm using particle candy and not sure if that has any bearing on launch crash or could it be an environmental issue.

Cheers.

Yeah making the branch a bit thicker sounds like a good idea then. :)

In regards to the crash bug, no that was the same path I took. The strange thing was that it didn't happen on any other level, which is strange. (It happened twice)
I actually tested it now again a bit later and couldn't replicate the bug. So it might not be a normal occurrence at all. :)

New lite version updated based on feedback from lfredrik. Thanks!

Slimboyfat, would you mind giving it another go? I saw an uninitialized variable that might have caused a crash.

Cheers

Still just exits ...

Many thanks Slimboyfat. I am stumped. Not sure how to proceed :( Maybe I try t reach out to the Ansca team to see if they have any suggestion.

I have two Android device one is LG GT 540 (2.1). On compilation with 268 stable build (for <2.2) I can launch but when the main game screen appears, it is blank with the background music playing. So I went for 2011.336 which only builds for 2.2. It works fine on HTC HD2 and so far HTC Desire too so I can't see why it wouldn't work on Atrix... do you mind doing an "adb logcat | grep Corona" while the device is attached to see the cause of the crash? It might show some pointer why it can't even launch.

Appreciate you great help so far!

The Universal iPad/iPhone version is now awaiting review!

Re: Atrix issues, I am using an Atrix as my Android Dev test device, and I noticed that recent daily builds (up to and including last week's major 484 release) were crashing on startup. I tried running your app on my Atrix with the same results (crash on startup).

However, I'm happy to report that today's daily build (488) is producing APKs that load up great on my Atrix.

dtaib, I'd suggest rebuilding your APK using build # 488. If you like, you can send me a link to this new APK, or let me know when the new build is up on the Android Market (lite version please), and I'll give it a test run for you.

Good luck!

Hey jasonschroeder,

Thanks for the tip! Much appreciated. I have rebuilt using #488.

It's now at the Android Market - version 7 - http://bit.ly/hHxUtu

Please can you help test when you have the chance?

Cheers

Works on atrix

Whoa. Excellent news! Thanks slimboyfat!

But im getting constant forcera close when restarting levels :/

@Slimboyfat. Is that when clicking on Next or Replay?

It freezes during gameplay random and also quits sometimes on replay havent tried next yet

FWIW, it's working fine on my Atrix and I am able to restart levels. (next and replay both working).

Thank @jasonschroeder. I was nearly on the edge of the cliff there about to jump off but saw the hope in your posting! Ah the joy of Android debugging! Even same device can give two separate outcomes!

@slimboyfat Suspect could be a memory issue or writing to file issue but there is something different environmentally between yours and jason. I presume both using 2.2.

Im using stock 1.57 android 2.2.1 rooted... it freezed again when i played :/

I'm on an AT&T Atrix (model # MB860, system version 4.1.57.MB860.ATT.en.US) running Android 2.2.1. Mine is also rooted. (Sadly, it's required in order to sideload apps on AT&T Android devices.)

For what it's worth, I just upgraded from 2.2 to 2.2.1 this morning, and noticed that the app is slightly more crash-prone in 2.2.1 than it seemed in 2.2. It doesn't always crash when restarting levels (or skipping ahead a level), but it does happen sometimes. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it.

But the game is still playable, and the crashes are intermittent enough that users may not necessarily notice.

You don't happening to have an external sdcard? I don't...

I do have an SD card installed, but for some reason the Atrix has thusfar not recognized it, and I'm unable to format it. It was an old card I had stashed in a drawer, so it could be that the card is no longer working. But at any rate, the game was not installed to the card, so I don't think it is affecting this bug.

Hm, send a mail to me, slimboyfat.slim@gmail.com...want to test my apk demo with your atrix, please :)
