Recommendations for icon designer?

Can anyone recommend an excellent icon designer that they've worked with in the past? Having trouble finding someone decent through oDesk...

I am also interested that kind of information.

Guys, you probably know that already, but I will mention it here anyway.

It is vital that you try to do the job yourself at least once.

You will learn a lot about what you need to consider when dealing with outsourcing the job.
It will also give you an appreciation for people who provide this type of services.
Finally, it will allow you to be alert and able to detect when a contractor tries to pull the wool over your eyes.

I found an icon designer on elance. Their profile is at http://www.elance.com/s/estebanet/10184/. You can see the icon at http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/galaxy-hop/id428714868?mt=8 so you can judge for yourself if you think it looks any good. :-)

I think that the designer did a great job on the picture of the game character, and it was certainly something which I couldn't do myself. I did change the background though to something which I preferred.

@Cerberus I already hired a designer through ODesk and it was a failure. I learnt a lot but lost money. So that's why I a looking for people having had good experience.

I have no idea of her current schedule and whether or not she has time, but Biffy Beebe is the BEST icon designed (and other graphics too, mind you) that I've ever met.

Just my two cents!

Peach :)

Awww, Peach your sweet!

Well, if anybody needs anything small, just ask. I finally found my wacom cintiq the other day. ^~^
Kinda weird to lose something so big, lol.

I'm sweet, it's true - but also honest ^-^; Your art is just fantastic, I honestly don't believe there is any art you couldn't do perfectly :)

(I'm using text you did for me on my Studio icon, doesn't do it justice at that size but still - awesome :D)

I'm a UX guy with close to 30 years experience. I create icons, interfaces, etc. I've also written two books on Flash. I've created icons for companies such as Macromedia, Micrografx, Nortel, IBM, HP, and Altsys.

Although I've been at this a while, I like to stay on the cutting edge (which is why I'm using Corona).
