Android Camera Access?

I read the roadmap and didn`t spot any mention of camera access on Android being added.

Should I assume that it might not be available in the next 3 months or so?

I do realize that it`s hard to comment on these things, but if there isn`t planned Android Camera API access in this sort of timescale then that`s a bit of a `buy or don`t buy` decision for us. Any clue would be helpful.

Also, the native UI parts are looking great, so really hoping they turn up quite soon too. Even a dev preview of those new controls would help enormously...

I too would like to see camera support on Android as well. There are some interesting games being done with "augmented reality", and it would be nice to be able to create such games with Corona on both iOS and Android.

Also, I'd like to see support for bar code scanning down the road as well (which is an extension of camera support). I have some ideas for both a game and an app that could use that.

Agreed, although our aims aren't really that high, i.e. take a photo and upload it to a website with basic auth http sign-in.

If this feature isn't coming soon then I guess a way around it would be to drop down into Java on Android.

Does anyone know if you can do that, i.e. include a java library as part of the Corona Android build so the Lua can call it? Seems like it might be a nice 'catch all' for things that are missing for now.
