For one of the apps that I need to port to Corona, I need the functionality of custom Markers. Any ideas on if that is available at the moment? Since I could not fin much doco in the API section, just wondering what functionalities were added via the MapKit.

As i said in the "makpkit integration" post :

There's no event listeners on markers :
We can only see the title and the subtitle of each markers. It would be nice, if we can call a function after the second tap (first tap allows to see the title).

Also we can't change the default Marker image.

Agreed.

Custom markers would be good to differentiate locations when map is populated with lots of POIs.

Marker click events would be good to launch info page for POI or link to URL in external browser.

For now I would be happy to know how to dismiss the map from screen after it's been called...
