New version of Tiled

A new version of Tiled has been released - http://www.mapeditor.org/

Feel free to try it out but I haven't tested it yet so any new map specific features won't be working in Lime. Various interface and workflow tweaks specific to Tiled should be fine though.

Of particular interest is this feature:

"Added support for drawing lines and ellipses with the stamp brush"

I haven't actually downloaded the new version so don't know for sure what that is but it certainly sounds like a nice way to draw physics objects :-)

I also really like this one:

"Fixed saving of property when clicking OK while editing on MacOS X"

This sounds cool too:

"Added automatic mapping feature, allowing placing of tiles based on rules"

And this last one:

"Added support for placing tiles as objects"

Sounds like the feature I wanted where you could create a single tile and give it specific features that other tiles of the same type in the tileset won't have.

So, looks like lots of new things to support :-)

I am currently finishing up the config files tutorial and then I will get looking at the new version of Tiled. It is also 3.30 am here so I can't promise anything new yet :)

Just had a very quick play, I really should be heading to bed but I couldn't resist.

Things I like so far is the Snap To Grid option, better Object selection and the Tile Objects look like they could be fairly useful even if they aren't actually what I was thinking they would be.

I also like the new icons created for a few things, look quite nice.

However I guess this is a sign of being tired, but I can't find the new shape stuff. Where is the Stamp Brush?

"even if they aren't actually what I was thinking they would be."

Scratch that, they seem to be exactly what I wanted them to be and they are now in. They allow you to arbitrarily position a tile sprite on an object layer and give it individual properties just like you would any other object.

Isometric demo pretty please in the next release, even if experimental :)

Ah dammit, I completely forgot to put that one in the 2.6 release. Sorry :-)

Sounds like a great update from the developers of Tiled. Puts my earlier concerns at ease. Thanks for broadcasting.

Yea it's a really good release and fixes a lot of niggling issues, if only I could find the new lime drawing stuff...
