Corona SDK now shipping

After being in the works for months, we now present to you the seamlessly cross-platform Corona SDK and Corona Game Edition:

http://blog.anscamobile.com/2010/09/theyre-here-corona-sdk-and-corona-game-edition/

You can download the build at:

Awesome!!!!

I was able to download the new Corona SDK, but the link to Game Edition page still shows the beta version:

https://developer.anscamobile.com/downloads/game-edition

Is there a different page?

The page has not been updated yet. It should read 'Pre-release'...

Some pages are still cached. Others update instantly. Thanks for letting us know.

Carlos

Sincere and Really Big congratulations :)).... I got my subs purchased just in time and look forward to great times ahead...thank you

Rob

This:
Release Notes

What's New in Corona Game Edition Beta
(Released September 2, 2010)

And even if I try to download it, it downloads always the GameEditionBeta :P
It does this on my pc with windows and Firefox too.
Actually, I'm here with 38° flu, so it can be that I'm seeing things :P I just want to look at the release note, too tired to do anything else :P

Ah !

That page !

We are transitioning the Game Edition from Beta. Which should be available soon. We announced pre-release pricing.

Carlos

Ah that's ok then, thanks Carlos!
Even at 350$, I still think it is a great deal (I actually thought it would have jumped to 500$), I really like Corona. Glad I bought it at 99$ though :P

Please please please update often and make it so I don't have to ever write in obj c again lol!
I love corona! I can't believe how quickly I'm able to write my game with it. Not only that it's fun.
Obj C isn't fun :)

I think, am not sure, the engineering staff is drinking Corona right now celebrating the release of Corona, but we may have another drop of GE before final bits get released.

Me.

Congratulations on the release of Corona! I can't wait to see what's been added to Game Edition once the pre-release is available. In fact, I'm really anxious to find out :)

$249 for Standard and $349 for Game Edition is extremely generous pricing. Thank you so much for looking out for us developers!

Ohh, I saw the new Corona Icon, it looks awesome! Way better than the Beta icon :-)

The pre-release page is up but it looks like there are no new features or bug fixes from the beta version. Is this correct?

From the Game Edition Pre-release page:

Release Notes

Corona Game Edition Prerelease

This is the first public prerelease of Corona Game Edition, previously available only as a closed beta within the Corona developer community. A production release will follow, but in the interim both subscribers and non-subscribers are invited to download and try the key Game Edition features.

This beta integrates the lengthy list of bug fixes from Corona SDK Beta 8. In addition, it adds long-awaited game development features:

I'm confused..the download points to a beta8 dmg and when it says "This beta integrates..." What beta? I thought it was out of beta?

You may be seeing cached pages in your browser. Clear your cache and try it again. I tried it last night and it downloaded the non-beta Corona SDK.

-Tom

@Tom: I think he's talking about Game Edition. It's still showing up as Beta for me too, however, I was under the impression that nothing has changed with Game Edition quite yet, and that a new version is coming soon?

Or, is a new version of Game Edition supposed to be out already?

Ah ok. Now I'm seeing CoronaGameEditionBeta.dmg as the file to download. Is that different from beta8? Also I thought it was out of beta?

Beta8 was the last version of Corona SDK before the official release (yesterday). Game Edition went from Alpha3 to Beta a few weeks ago. Now I think they called "pre-release", but nothing has changed. There should be another release of GE in a few weeks.

-Tom

Well I'm anxious for a few weeks to come around then :)

I just marked my calendar!

Hey Carlos, Walter, Eric,

Well done guys, great to see all the successes you're having. I've still got six months left on my current Corona subscription so I really need to pull my finger out and produce some cool games!! Keep up the great work. Physics engine is brilliant! Just need to find some time to play with it all!

Cheers,

Nick

Thanks Nick !

Look forward to more apps from you

Carlos

I just recently discovered Corona literally last week and only had the time to test it out a little and some more again today. But now the price has gone up, does it mean i'm too late for the $99 pricing?

Be great if you could do international workshops as well. Looked like you all had a lot of fun at your recent workshop.

Cheers,

Nick

Nick

You could organize one, and we could give you all the materials you need.

We are looking at doing a webcast soon for our out of the bay area friends.

;-)

C

ps: we also video taped the workshop. we are going to review the tapes and if it is clean quality, we will post the workshop video.

Hey Carlos,

That sounds like a great idea, but at the moment I've got a full time day web developer job, so am having to have fun with Corona, make apps in my spare time, plus I need to learn and play with Lua more to be able to pass on my knowledge, oh I'm not just out of the bay, but across the ocean lol! However I think I've seen a few UK based developers e.g Matthew Alien Horde the game man Pringle, so it might be good to set up a Facebook Corona group for us UK based peoples. Would be brilliant to enthuse other people so I'm very tempted to book some leave to do a workshop. Having said that have seen your ads appearing next to my youTube videos.

Teddy Pairs app was my first little experiment, but I really want to play with the physics capabilities to create engaging and fun games (just need more time as have family as well!!) but may be able to contribute to future video tutorials as I get to grips with it all. By the way the DebugDraw throwing crates sample is great fun and there's some great apps appearing made by other Corona developers. Just wished I'd remembered public release date and renewed earlier lol Now I just need to get a Galaxy Tab, or iPad and see Corona working at its full potential!!

Be great to see the workshop videos you mentioned. As per usual keep up the great work and look forward to the alpha game edition, plus have you got any plans to release training videos through companies like lynda.com.

Cheers,

Nick
