Help with downloading app to device.

ok so i built my app and is now a web host so i can download on a droid from there but when i download it, it ends up as a .txt file and not a .apk file. I read the documents in resources over this but i still couldn't figure it out. Any help would be appreciated.

You can install APK files onto your device via USB and the Android SDK's "adb" utility. Do a Google search of "adb install" and you will find lots of information about this.

OK thank you. Also what if i wanted to put it in a file hosting service so that a few friends of mine and family could test it out and see what they think?

Hmm... I've only installed APKs via the command line and the "adb" utility. I've heard that there are free Android apps that you can use to transfer and install APKs onto a device, which would make it easier for less tech savvy users to install APKs, but I've never done it this way before. Perhaps a new forum post on this topic might turn up some results from the Corona community.

I've also heard that some people have shared APKs via the DropBox website and when you tap the file link on the Android device's web browser, then it will automatically download it. Again, I haven't tried this for myself, but it might be worth trying.

hmm ok cause you upload the apk file to a file hosting site and download it on the device from the browser then when its done you can go to the download list and install it from there
