I found some code on the cocos2d forum for panning/zooming that I would like to use for my game, however I don't know how to convert the code from cocos2d to Lua, would anybody be willing to help?

I'm going to guess that the frameworks are that different that it's probably impossible to do it in the same way. Probably best for you to start over. I think thee are some example on the code exchange.
