i followed the tutorial on how to make a character animated and make him move but instead of using the player.png i used one of my own sprites my character will jump but only a little bit off the ground and he will not walk forward how can i fix this?

It sounds like you may have missed something in the tutorial, could you double check every step and then if it still doesn't work just send the zipped up project to support@justaddli.me and I will take a look at it as soon as I can.
