Is there anything that I am not finding in my searches on points reduction code when drawing lines by touch?

I have small circles falling on a touch drawn line but the circles are not close to the line at all. It looks as they are floating on the line.

I hope this makes sense.

Yep, but still I see a nice gap. What I would like is to reduce the amount of points but I dont even know where to start.
